With seven divisional matchups on the Thursday MLB schedule, familiarity will be a major theme of the night and batter vs. pitcher data could be critical in crafting your MLB DFS lineups. Adam Wainwright has pitched 291.1 innings against the Brewers in his illustrious career and has a dazzling 2.63 ERA against the division rivals with a 20-13 win-loss record. However, the Brewers lead the National League with 57 home runs already this season so should you trust Wainwright in your MLB DFS lineups?
In the NL East, Aaron Nola and Kyle Wright are expected to duel as the Phillies take on the Braves in Atlanta. Ronald Acuna Jr. is a staggering 11-for-29 with three home runs and a 1.293 career OPS against Nola and that history will undoubtedly make him one of the most popular options in the MLB DFS player pool on Thursday night. Before you make your MLB DFS picks, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.
McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.
On Wednesday, he highlighted Astros starting pitcher Cristian Javier as one of his top MLB DFS picks on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: Javier threw 5.2 scoreless inning, giving up only three hits and striking out nine in a win to return 32.35 points on DraftKings and 50 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, as the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has locked in his top MLB daily Fantasy picks for Thursday, May 26. Head to SportsLine now to see them.
McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Thursday, May 26, 2022
One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Thursday is Dodgers infielder Max Muncy ($5,600 on DraftKings and $3,000 on FanDuel). After hitting at least 35 home runs and posting an OPS of .889 or higher in each of his last three full seasons, Muncy has been off to a slow start in 2022 with a .591 OPS and just three home runs in 168 plate appearances.
However, his .183 BABIP is 75 points below his career average and his natural power should play up as we head towards the warmer summer months. He’s a solid positive regression candidate given his track record and a matchup against Humberto Castellanos and the Diamondbacks could help jumpstart his season. Castellanos has a 4.89 career ERA over 92 innings.
Another part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Twins shortstop Carlos Correa ($5,500 on DraftKings and $3,400 on FanDuel). After an 0-for-4 night on April 27, Correa’s OPS bottomed out at .504 but he’s been streaking ever since. He’s reached base safely in each of his last 15 games despite a stint on the injured list in the middle of that span.
During that 15-game streak, Correa has eight multi-hit games and he has raised his OPS by 242 points all the way to .746. He also has eight extra-base hits and 12 RBI during that timeframe. On Thursday, Correa and the Twins will match up with Royals left-hander Daniel Lynch. Correa is 4-for-11 off Lynch in his career.
