Frank Gore retiring after signing one-day contract with 49ers

Longtime NFL running back Frank Gore will sign a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers and then retire, his agent Drew Rosenhaus announced.

Gore finishes at No. 3 on the NFL’s career rushing list with 16,000 yards, behind only Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.

Gore was drafted by the 49ers in the third round in 2005 and went to five Pro Bowls in 10 seasons with San Francisco.

The 39-year-old Miami native also played three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and one season with each of the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and, finally, the New York Jets. in 2020.

Gore did not play last year.
