Two up for sale but Portuguese star set to stay as Ten Hag makes Man Utd right-back decision

Erik Ten Hag has reportedly made his decision on the future of Manchester United’s right-backs as his squad rebuild continues.

Right-back has been a problem position for United in recent years with multiple players being given opportunities but failing to take them.

The 12 players Manchester United can offload this summer to apparently save £500m

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was signed from Crystal Palace in 2019 for a hefty fee of £50m but he has struggled to settle at Old Trafford amid constant questions over his attacking ability.

Diogo Dalot seemed to be the favourite for Ralf Rangnick during his interim spell in charge whilst Brandon Williams will return to the club this summer following a spell on loan at relegated Norwich.

The Manchester Evening News is now reporting that new boss Ten Hag was made his decision the futures of the trio with both Wan-Bissaka and Williams available this summer.

However, it would appear that Portuguese full-back Dalot will remain at the club after they turned down an approach for him.

The reports claims that an unnamed Spanish club made an approach for Dalot, however, United instead offered them Wan-Bissaka.

That would hint that Ten Hag sees the Portuguese international as part of his plans going forward whilst they are willing to listen to offers for 24-year-old Wan-Bissaka.

His former side, Patrick Vieira’s Palace, have been linked with a move to bring him back to Selhurst Park although United will be looking to recoup some of the £50m the spent on him three years ago.

Meanwhile, United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken about the arrival of Ten Hag, claiming they will be back where they belong soon.

“I knew he did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time and things need to change they way he wants,” he said in a video posted on the club’s Twitter account.

“I hope we have success of course because if you have success, all of Manchester are going to have success as well. So I wish him the best.

“We are happy and excited – not only the players, but the supporters as well.

“I wish him the best and let’s believe that next year we’re going to win trophies.

“For me, the most important thing is to try to win the games and try to win some championship or some cup but I believe that Manchester will be where they belong.

“As I say before, sometimes it takes time but I still believe.”
