According to reports, Chelsea are interested in signing Lens wing-back Jonathan Clauss but could face competition from Atletico Madrid.
Clauss had a terrific 2021/22 campaign, scoring five and assisting 11 in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.

His terrific form earned him a maiden call-up to the French national team in March and he recently featured in his country’s Nations League matches against Denmark and Croatia.
The 29-year-old can operate anywhere on the right flank, but has primarily been utilised as a right-wing-back at Lens.
According to Transfermarkt, Clauss is worth £13.5m, however, the French club are willing to accept a bid in the region of £10m, according to Goal.
This could be due to the fact he turns 30 in September, on top of the fact that he is out of contract in 2023.
The report claims that Chelsea have been ‘monitoring’ the Frenchman ‘for well over a year and could make their move before the summer transfer window closes’.
However, Atletico Madrid are said to be interested with Sime Vrsaljko poised to join Olympiacos.

Thomas Tuchel is eager to sign several defenders this summer with Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and potentially Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta all leaving the club.
While Reece James is an undisputed starter for the German head coach, Clauss would provide depth in right-wing-back and could potentially start with James in a right-centre-half role.
The two-time Champions League winners are also interested in signing RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
However, Barcelona – who will sign Christensen as a free agent and pursue Alonso and Azpilicueta – are also keen on Kounde.
Chelsea are boosted by the fact Barca are struggling financially and are unlikely to be able to fund a deal for the 23-year-old Frenchman.
Newcastle are also reportedly keen on Kounde and will try to ‘tempt’ him with a move to Tyneside, as per Mundo Deportivo.
