Wayne Rooney next club odds: Everton big favourites for return to Goodison Park, Newcastle and MLS outside chances

Wayne Rooney stepped down as Derby County manager last week.

The now League One side came close to mission impossible, attempting to overcome a 21-point deduction in the Championship in the 2021/22 season – but announced his departure after ‘rollercoaster of emotions‘.

Bookmakers Betfair have shortened Everton as the 7/4 favourites to be his next destination as boss.

This would see him go full circle in his football career as he started out his youth and senior career with the Merseyside club.

After a long stint with Manchester United the England midfielder and forward returned to Goodison Park for a season before departing for the MLS.

Gareth Bale has signed for LA Galaxy and an MLS move for Rooney isn’t ruled out entirely at 10/1.

Rooney often made the headlines in the MLS for his goals and could return to the US or even DC United according to the odds.

Wayne Rooney Next Club Odds

  • Everton 7/4
  • Newcastle 13/2
  • Southampton 9/1
  • Leicester 9/1
  • Leeds 10/1
  • Any MLS Club 10/1
  • Norwich 14/1
  • Manchester United 16/1

Newcastle are the second favourites in the betting at 13/2 but as with any of these possible next clubs they depend on the current managers leaving or being sacked.

The Premier League sack race odds suggest Frank Lampard is the favourite to be the first boss to see the door which could leave it open for the 36-year-old Liverpudlian.
