A 34-year-old cyclist from Gatineau was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday evening after she was struck by a vehicle in Chelsea, police said.

The cyclist was hit around 7 p.m. by a 32-year-old woman driving a Honda Civic who was travelling in the opposite direction and attempted to turn left without yielding to the cyclist, MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais said in a release.

The collision occurred at the Lac Meech Road and Kingsmere Road intersection, with traffic blocked for about an hour, and sun glare could have been a factor in the incident, police said.
