Being a royal means there are certain protocols to follow.
This is something that Kate Middleton did brilliantly during a recent visit to the Commonwealth Games on August 2 2022. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge along with their daughter Princess Charlotte attended the sporting event that was officially opened by Charles, Prince of Wales on July 28.
Kate Middleton’s most recent visit to the sporting event marked an important milestone in the little princess’s life. In the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, avid royal watchers were keen to spot the significance of the Duchess of Cambridge’s jewellery choice.
The doting mother paid a sweet tribute to her daughter by wearing jewellery that she first wore to Charlotte’s christening in 2015. This marks the seven year old Charlotte’s first solo appearance alongside her parents without brothers Prince George, nine, and Prince Louis, four, being present.
The happy royal family beamed for the cameras and appeared to be enjoying themselves at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, even chatting with mascot Perry The Bull, much to Charlotte’s delight.
Jewellery Kate Middleton wore at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games
Kate wore the stunning matching jewellery set from royal favourite Mappin & Webb which holds Royal Warrants to British monarchs since 1897.
The necklace is an Empress 18 carat white gold diamond pendant necklace costing £2,000. The matching diamond carriage earrings are from the same Empress collection costing £2,500.
The sparkling jewels went perfectly with her bright white Alexander McQueen costing £1,945, an ensemble that she happened to wear on the royal Caribbean tour earlier this year. It was a suit which kept Kate cool in the double-digit weather that has been hitting the country recently.
Wearing older items instead of buying new ones, is a great way to channel sustainable living. Having a super stylish mum also means Charlotte can experience first-hand how fashion choices can express and empower.
The little princess wore a nautical themed striped sailor dress by Rachel Riley. This was the perfect choice to wear at the sporting event which included a visit to the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
Here The Cambridges got together with fellow royals Prince Edward, the Countess of Wessex and their children Lady Louise Windsor, 18, and James, Viscount Severn, 14, to cheer on athletes taking part in competitive swimming events.
The fun day out for Charlotte also included a meet-and-greet with dignitaries, and attendance at a nutritional workshop where she learnt more about healthy food.
